The Research Institute of Byzantine Culture is located at Mystras, Sparta. It was founded in 2007 (P. D. 155/2007). It  belongs to the University of Peloponnese and it functions in the context of the Department of History, Archaeology and Cultural Resources Management, and the Department of Philology. This is the only University Research Institute of Byzantine Culture in Greece.
